Summer Ottobre Style!

Summer 2013 Ottobre Issue
We just got in our Summer shipment of the Children's Ottobre Design magazine!  Every issue, I'm amazed at the gorgeous and NEW looks that they create!  This one is no exception.  There are 40 styles in this issue, ranging from infant through a child's size 14. Here are the line drawings from this issue:

If you aren't familiar with Ottobre, they are a Finnish company that produces pattern magazines for both women and children.  We carry all of them at SewBaby. The magazines have a master pattern in the center of each issue that is color coded, so that you can find which size and style you need to trace more easily.  The sizing is European and is done by height, so if you know your child's height, just adjust it to centimeters, and choose which size you need. Here are some of their creations from this issue:

Adorable Baby Shirts and Pants

Knit Dress with Snap front

Classic Jean Jacket!
Color blocked hoodie.

Heirloom summer outfits
We also offer Swedish Tracing Paper to use for tracing.  It's durable and will last through many, many pinnings.

Happy Sewing!

Not knowing anything about Madagascar, the first step in figuring out what to pack was to figure out the weather and the cultural norms.  Madagascar is a very large island off the southeastern coast of Africa.  It's very, very unique in it's ecosystem, and has many species that are not found anywhere else in the world- most famously lemurs. Right now, it is experiencing it's rainy season, as you can see by t...

Rose Colored Glasses and More

So, 2019 was a bummer of a year for me.  I developed a heart condition called atrial fibrillation (or Afib for short) and spent the last half of the year in and out of the ER and doctor's offices trying to control it.  If you've never heard of it, it's when your heart rate suddenly goes 100 miles an hour.  It's very unpredictable, scary, uncomfortable and exhausting.  So, needless to say, I didn't get a ton of sewing done the last half of the year.   Rubes® cartoon used with permission © Leigh Rubin www.RubesCartoons.com In August, I was put on a medication that had scary side effects, didn't work, and led to horrendous insomnia.  I felt like a walking zombie.   But after 3 months of that, in November, I had a procedure called a cardiac ablation which froze the heart cells that were causing the problem.  Thank God for modern technology- this procedure has only been available in the last 20 years. I'm 3 months post procedur...
