Linen Separates from McCalls 7368

Did you know that "separate" is the most commonly misspelled word in the English language? At least according to The Telegraph .  I am not surprised, as I had to look it up to write this post about separates!   I could have just written "Linen Jacket, Pants, and Top", but then I wouldn't have found out that interesting bit of trivia. I bought McCalls 7368 specifically for the jacket, but then decided that the whole pattern was pretty darn nice, and decided to try some of the other pieces as well.  This is a Khaliah Ali pattern which are designed to be flattering on larger sizes, so I usually feel confident that they will be a good bet for my figure.   I love seeing her as the model too.  I think she is so pretty, and how nice it is to see a real curvy woman on the cover!   I had three pieces of the new designer linen from Fabric Mart , and my vision for them was something Eileen Fisher-esque.  I admire  Eileen Fisher styles for t...

Peacock Pajamas and a Pretty Paisley Robe

My daughter is having a surgery next month and we are anticipating a month of recuperation time at home.  I decided to make her some new loungewear to wear around the house while she's recuperating.  She likes orange and pink, so I used some gorgeous coordinates from Blend fabrics that we have at SewBaby with those colors.  I decided to try my hand a print mixing.  The first is a peacock print from the Caravan Dreams collection. Please excuse the photos- it's been raining all day and finding good light was difficult! I prewashed the fabric so it is ultra soft. I decided to use yellow piping and topstitching, as kind of an unexpected accent. Then I accented the pocket and cuffs with a little bit of this Climbing Vines print.  It's my intention to make an entire short sleeve pajama top and shorts from it as soon as I know if this pattern fits her.  I used Kwik Sew 2811 for the pattern, and I loved it.  It has all kinds of nice littl...
